yawning cichlids??

i thought it meant that there was to little oxygen in the water if they do it to often
 
there use to be a great thread with pics about this... someone should dig it up cuz it was amazing...

from what i undetstand prettymuch all fish yawn... and they do it prettymuch for the same reasons... constant yawning is a bad sign.. but just like with people.. sometimes they just yawn...
same goes for scratching... however constant scratching (flasing) is often a sign of a water quality issue

Thats probably the best way of putting it :)
 
My pikes do it the most often but i have seen most of my fish do it

Yep, its normal, seen my fish do it from time to time. Its really neat seeing a fish with a really large mouth do it. Sometimes you get to see jsut how large their mouth can really open.
 
In my sig I caught a yawn on film. That was some time ago though... The blood parrot did it... about 19 seconds from the end.
