Just went through this search myself a few weeks ago; there are some really great suggestions here but I figured I'd throw a few more into the ring.

Here's what I ended up with after my search:

Another vote would be for a Nicaraguan (Amphilophus nicaraguense) sorry no pics of my little Nikki but they are a very colorful fish.
