I have been having trouble getting my yellow labs to eat. I got them to eat cucumber and the large males can eat some of these large cichlid sinker pellets I had. I made some homemade food which they seem to eat but it makes way to big of a mess. Also I tried some blood worms (floating) which they didn't seem to even notice.

Now my question is my lfs has a sale where you buy one get one free (nutrafin max-fish food)
Which one would be ideal for my fish?(their is so many types)....I have 5 adult yellow labs and 1 ice blue

Thanks:)

NLS cichlid pellets. It's pretty much the only thing my mbuna will eat, aside from the occasional spirulina brine shrimp treat. Try not to go over a protein content of 38% with mbuna and other mainly herbivorous cichlids as they can and will get bloat with too much protein intake.

I believe it only comes in sinking variety, but because of the small size of the pellets they will float as long as you don't throw them hard into the water, (the water tension will hold them up).

Can I feed them gold fish food until I get nls pellets?

here are the ingredients:
fish meal,soy flour, plankton, laver aquatic plant, oat flour, wheat flour, irradiated dried yeast, kelp, fish liver, fish oil and chlorophyll

Crude protein= 32%
Crude fat= 5%
Crude fiber= 2%
Moisture= 8%

How long will it be until you get the right food, approximately??

They'll be fine not eating for a day or two, but if you must feed them, goldfish food really shouldn't be fed to them consistently as it is specially formulated for goldfish. I would continue to feed the larger cichlid pellets until you can get a more suitably sized food for them. You could always crush the large pellets into smaller pieces for them.

At my pet store they have a buy one get one free deal. I can either can get some sinking nutrafin max sinking cichlid pellets (I think it was 52 or 58% protein) or some nutrafin max spirulina pellets (about the size of a penny and has 32% protein) I assume the fish are supposed to nibble on the spirulina pellets. What is better?
