A friend of mine has labs that keep breeding and is going to give me some at the end of the month....My question is : What else could possibly breed with a yellow lab? I am looking for somethink colorful. Any and all ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Chris

Dont mix yellow labs. Hybrids are not wanted in this hobby.

if your not selling them thats cool, just dont sell them because hybrids are frowned upon. But its your tank and they're your fish so do what you want!!! Some people need to understand that!

yellow labs look beautiful all by themselves..

I know they are beautiful all by themselves...I would not sell them....if they were ugly they would be Oscar food! If they were colorful I would have a more colorful tank! I just want to cross them to say that I did it and hope for a very colorful hybrid....I WILL NOT SELL THEM - GUARANTEED! They will be for my own tank. Hopefully this clears some things up and I get some more suggestions!

The majority of hybrids turn brownish in color with Africans. Sorry to burst your bubble. They will pretty much breed with anything.

i dont think by breeding hybrids you will get anything more colorful than a yellow lab.. like the previous poster stated, most hybrids take on a dirty color.. so how about keeping those yellow labs pure and housing them with another lake Malawi fish that is colorful? damensonis are a brilliant blue, i love rusties and salousi's-- just pick a compatible tankmate for the yellow labs--keep in mind they are quite docile for the most part..

i would pair them with rusties but thats just me...
