This is my blue labriden. Kind of reminds me of a jack dempsey but if it wanted to beat another fish up it could do it very easily. They have wicked sets of teeth. Mine is a bit territorial but can tolerate tank mates of similar or more aggression. I wish I could find more locally. They seem to be more available online and stuff lately but they're all pretty expensive.

I have a few dozen of the Yellow and a couple breeding pair. Light on the protein. Keep them in groups. Other than that, typical Hericthys.

Camp.; Where did you get that "blue"' labridens. Here's mine. They look a little different.

what's a reasonable price to pay for these? there were some on aquabid but i think they were quite overpriced considering i've seen them being offered before for much less than what the seller was asking for!

Tien,

I had those before. They are kind of touchy. I think that Rusty Wessel breeds them, well, atleast used to. You can contact him through email.

$100 for six 2" yellow labridens is not a bad price if you really want them.

I had a group of F1 yellow labridens that I kept for about 6 years. They never developed the intense yellow color you see in photos of wild labridens. I even tried lighting the tank with reptile bulbs to simulate natural sunlight.
Caring for them was easy. They would eat just about any food offered. They also were not as aggressive as most of the other Herichthys species. My group of 5 got along great in a 120 gallon. The largest male got to about 9", females about 6".
Here are a few photos of them.

hi gary that was much less than what the guy was asking when i emailed him. i was trying to bid on the auction.
his price to me was $35/fish! so there was no way i was prepared to pay that kind of money :( that was way out of my price range.

i really like these guys.

bobp - i think i've seen you trying to sell those locally... they look nice :) maybe the colors come out from some kind of food they feed on?
