can i setup a small breeding colony of yellow labs in a 55g? and if so do you think clown loaches can hang with the labs, or do you think the loaches will get destroyed?

no loaches ...just labs... most labs are docile.. but africans in a colony can pic and nip and make life miserable for the clown loaches in my opinion

I disagree with Red Devil. I had a small group of Clown Loaches in my 55 gallon Mbuna tank. The tank contained Mbuna that are more aggressive than Labs. The Clown Loaches never once got picked on.

Some believe that the water chemistry required for Mbuna is unhealthy for Clown Loaches though.

i did not say it would not work... but i would not do it.. loaches have no scales... and the africans eat so fast it would would not be ideal living conditions for the loaches.. you would really need to cater to the tank to make sure food was evenly distributed..and that the tank maintained pristene water conditions... other wise loaches are prone to the dreaded ICK..... in my opinion loaches would not prosper from this arrangement

The Loaches in my Mbuna tank, which contained 15 Mbuna, were fat and happy.

do you still have them... i would love to see a pic.... when i turn down an arrangement of fish it is because it is not nessasary to mix these two... if for some reason some one had to do it... well then maybe it would work.. but if you do not need to why take the chance and purchase them just to lose them..
