I'm sure some of the other polyaddicts have noted how yellow JAs current shipment of juvi Ornates are, you guys think it will hold that color? I wanted to create a pair so I can eventually attempt to breed them, and it would be very interesting to see large yellow ornates. I've seen pics of large ones that have a green or yellow hue instead of creamy white like the usual ornates are

Not letting me edit, but if you have pics of uniquely colored ones (not white) post em up! I would like to get an idea of how this guy is going to turn out. Getting it from JA so if you want to take a look go under their current stock

I saw those on JA's FB page the other day too and was thinking the same thing. I think they might hold that color cuz all the juvi ornates I've seen hold their color as they mature. If they did hold that color it would be awesome to see them full grown.

IMO it's not the ornate it's the lighting (or flash). However I have not first handedly seen the ornates, but my ornate did the same thing once I put it on black sand and under some T5's with blue and white bulbs. Since I have two different bulbs when my ornate swims into the space the blue bulb shines on he looks really nice and dark, but when he swims into the white light he turns VERY green pretty much all hit white turns green. When you say yellow though I am interpreting a very exotic looking yellow (i've seen the pics and it looks very yellow). IMO though every ornate or at least from what i've seen has a very faint tint of yellow, but not the very exotic yellow (might just be my eyes playing tricks).

Oh yes I've seen plenty or ornates around that size but never yellow to that point, mine also has a creamy yellow color on his pectorals but the rest of his design is more an off white, and I've never seen green on mine and I've used both white and blue lights on dark sand for a while now. That sounds pretty cool you should try n snag a pic of him green!

I asked mike if they are really yellow like that or if its the flash/lighting and he said no, so even if this guy holds some of his yellow it seems like he will still be much more yellow then my other ornate. Im gonna pick him up and see how things turn out, if it does hold that yellow color it would be a nice oddball ornate! I think I'll sell my F1 if they turn out to be both male or both female, idk what it is about it but I hate getting more then one of the same fish... plus they get notoriously nippy after ten inches or so I have heard, not trying to have my endli and nice palmas specie get nipped up. when this other comes next week I'll have all 3 palmas complex!

Right on man, you'll have to post a pic when you get him. Would love to see what he looks like in "normal" lighting.

Hmm I'll have to include shrimp in its diet throughout life, I'll try with mine, market shrimp or live ghosties?
