Yellow Perch with cichlids???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I don't think this will work out in the long run. Perch are colder water fish, and not as aggressive as most cichlids.

Well, he's in my 125. So far so good, but you know how that can go.

He has lots of cover. So far the larger cichlids are ignoring him.

i'm w/ you on this one. i tried keeping several small perch in tropical conditions w/ no tankmates and lots of live plant cover. they did well for about 2-3 days then suddenly died. the DO content will more than likely be too low, but maybe you'll get lucky. wait and see i guess

I have had perch in 80 degree water for a long time (the longest has been 6 years). Its not that perch are coldwater fish, its that they have the ability to live through multiple seasons because they are so hardy. Skipping a couple seasons doesn't kill the fish. I would have looked at a different cause for death.

The gill will heal. Mine eat pellets, krill, and european night crawlers. I feed him pellets as a staple and krill/worms twice a week. It took him a couple days to eat the pellets.

Do you think Bloodworms will work?

You might have better luck if you start your own thread on the topic.
