i got 12 acei and i was wondering if females grow slower than males or do some just grow slower than others ive noticed some growing good but some just a lil was wondering if its possible the ones growing slower could be females
I'm not sure whether males or females grow faster, but I've had a yellow tail acei for about 3 months and hes still about the same size as when I got him...I think they're slow growers
i got these about a month or so ago n i can tell groth in mine. i bought 2 a few yrs back n they grew fast was fully grown in no time out grew all my fish from 2"
Males do tend to mature a little faster than females, but fish grow at different rates. However, there is no guarantee that the early growers are males or that the smaller fish are females. The only sure way to sex them is to vent them.
Yeah, as already mentioned fish do grow at different rates, but you may also have some dominance playing into effect here. I don't mean sexual dominance between males, but "survival of the fittest" (so to speak, not trying to offend anyone that hates Darwin). If a fish is larger, stronger, faster, etc. then it will usually out compete the other fish in the group for food and other things. So it is possible that the fish growing quicker are out competing the fish not growing as fast.
