i think my driftwood is making my water yellow.............is there anything i can do to make it nice and clear????

Nope not a thing... Mines yellow also its the tanin from the wood.

Carbon, purigen, or water changes is all that I can think of.

I would do more water changes.

I had a peice in my 120 and it made my water yellow, i tried water changes every day carbon and even got a protein filter i just couldent get rid of it. I think some d/w just gives off a natural tanin into the water.

Option 1: Boil the wood for 20-45 minutes. Option 2: filtration (carbon or purigen). Option 3: Water Changes. The wood will eventually stop giving off tannins generally. What type of wood is it? My 135 has over 100 lbs of dry driftwood in it, all has been in the tank for at least 2 years, and my water has no coloration.

ive been doing water changes and using carbon and i guess everntually it will stop giving off tanins..........one piece was found in a river so i dont think that one is giving off any but the other one must be

boil it for 20 min . than drain off water then boil it again . drain boil drain boil . do this about 4 times i always boiled mine add a little aquarium salt when you boil it to . then put it in tank add carbon to filter, and just do water changes it will go away eventully but boiling it away help to get most of the color leaching out.

im not sure how a pleco would help with yellow water. the dirftwood in my 10g tank stopped turning the water yellow after about 5 good water changes.
