precisely what i was thinking. most people do not have 3ft. wide tanks and really can only accomodate retics, humerosas, yepezis, and other relatively small rays if they can support any at all. these are harder to find in my opinion. i am obviously trying to turn a buck here in the future as well. I have alot more research to do surrounding breeding but I have a year to do it so I will be well prepared. hopefully I can become a known supplier of small rays. haha.

Ill call you Scarface or Escobar!! and give me your number i want a yepezi!

hahahaha, i'll send one up north in a year or so when i get this underway

niiiiiiiiiiiice dude , seriously let me kno, im only a lil over an hour away!!!

Dude no offense but I dont even think its possible to "turn a buck" breeding rays at the hobbyist level. Hell itll cost more to just feed a ray a year then it what you could sell a single pup for! Not to mention initial cost of the fish, tank, water, electricity, ect. It possible to break even so to speak but with out dozens of adults and dozens of tanks that produce pups on a regular basis I just dont see it happening!

well something is better than nothing. and secondly, there is a guy on here that was selling his tiger and pearl rays for big bucks. i am going to start out with motoros then yepezies. i have alot to learn but i want to work my way up to selling rare stingrays. i think it'll be worth the effort in the long run but if not, at least im having fun.

yea pearls and p14's are pricey because those guys are the only ones we can buy from, there's a guy on another forum who bred his retics and had 8 pups, he sold them for $30 a pop, that's a great price, hell wild caught retics cost more, it wasn't about money though. the fact that you can do it, is almost elite status in freshwater rays standards!

extra cash is cash u didint have before... so even if your not strikin oil persay sellin rays its better then sittin on the couch makin nothin!

agreed, now let's see if we can get some of the big fishtank dealers to make 3ft wide tanks a new standard size.

I would have to say davew is right the only way to make money breeding rays is to have atleast 12 breeding tanks and your going to need 40-60 adults to get consistent pups. I have dumped a ton of money into my facility and don't plan on making any money for atleats a year or more. Also your going to need rays that you can make money on not cheap rays that sell for cheap they wont even cover your food and energy bills. Also i do alot of maintence and installations in order to cover the bills for the rays without some other income it's just to expensive.
