Got some earthworms the otherday cant get nothing else around me so was only choice. I have put them in and he just swims away from anything thats in the tank. I cut up some frozen fish placed it in and still nothing!! I hope he will be ok when moving fingers crossed

With new retics you need to chop up the earthworms with scissors and try feeding them with metal tweezers as this stimulates them sometimes. Of course don't get tagged. You said that the ray is 6" with the tail. That is very small. Most retics i get at this size sadly don't make it past a month. You said he ate during quarantine thats a good thing your chances are better. But typically a retic doesn't eat well right after landing them from wild caught. So chopped earth worms or live ghost shrimp are your very best option. Best of luck

I have just double checked and yes he is 6inch. he has lasted more than a month now but not sure how much longer he may have. I was told he was eating as the guy i got him from imports them and was feeding them on bloodworms. He must be eating something or he would have died by now but i personally dont think he is eating properly or at all!!

i would suggest worming him with prazipro.. also 20-30 nitrates seems kinda high for rays

by the way guys he still aint eating and looking more skinnier. i dont know what else to try? can somebody please give me somemore ideas on what to do before he gives up on me

Been there done that...Never take someones word that the ray was eating before hand. Always try and buy a ray in person or get a video of it eating. It would be nice to believe everything people said to be "true" but not always the case. Most imported rays don't eat for weeks until they get to the owners tank and it's his job to get them eating. I have never had problems feeding cut up earthworms or dew worms. I am currently feeding my newborn Henlei cut up dew worms and he is going with his new owner tomorrow but before he goes I will show him it is eating and it will be his job to get the ray onto different foods as they usually don't take to pellets until later.

Hi guys unfortunately i lost the little guy two days ago now i woke up to him upside down and curled up. Thanks for all the responses and help!!

Don't give up, most of us have lost a ray,

Realize what you are trying to do,
get a ray with a chance at living,
have the food ready ,
the water parameters under control
And no obnoxious tank mates

try keeping the lights on all day and night. put the recommended dosage of Lugols iodine in the tank. (that will help with any infections) then put a good amount of live blackworms in. i got all my stingrays to eat this way but i also had them in a quarintine tank by themselves until they were eating well. Hope this helps.
