Yes, it's another one of THOSE questions.

I agree with Milkman...Look on CL and see what you can find... A 180 would be better but sometimes you can find some tanks that are still 24" wide but 4' long instead of 6'... Not perfect but would work for awhile..
How long is a while? Roughly?

I'll keep an eye out four sure, though. Lulz, some of these craigslist ads are ridiculous. A 55 gallon and stand for $400? Used and all glass? I paid all of $180 for my 55 (in a kit with filter, heater, hood and light), stand, substrate and a few decorations. Of course, if I'm patient, I'm sure something will come up.

well, some of us dont like x-mas. so will be on here alot or drinking some rumnogg :D. which I'm doing both.

An arowana can live happily for a little while longer in something 2ft wide. Your best bet would be to find something on www.craigslist.com for cheap. or look around in cali theres always deals.
I like my rum with a little less nogg, but I'm not 21 for another month, so let's pretend I didn't just admit that.

Anyway, I hate the part of SoCal I'm in. It's the Inland Empire, so there's nothing good here, but everything is "close." That just means it's three or four hours away if you take the 15. I guess I could rent a Uhaul and some random guys from in front of home depot for a day, right? Too bad my espanol no es beuno. I'm kidding, really.

I would say max of a year in that tank just because of the length... It's just a better size for aro's because of the 24" width...As for tanks on CL you just have to look all the time for deals, I bought a 100 acrylic in decent shape with filters for $100.00, but i know alot of people are smoking something when they price their stuff on there...

Wow. I checked CL again, and there's a 240 with a stand, lighting, and 3 fluval canisters like 10 minutes from my house. It's like $1200 though, but this just comes to show you guys were right. My only worry is: how would I get this into my room? And how would I convince my mom a tank like this is a good idea lol?

How do you get it in your room?? Through the door...

My 240 is 8'x2'x2'. I had me and 3 other guys move it into my apartment. We should have had more... I lost a lot of skin on my leg when the stand slipped out of my buddy's grasp. I'm just happy it wasn't the tank. It's so sweet to have now though. Well worth it!!

As far as convincing your Mom....good luck. I don't even live with my parents anymore, and I didn't tell them about mine for a long while. My Dad is a fishkeeper himself, and still thinks I'm nuts to have a tank that big.

He's not a MFK'er...

i wouldnt waste your time w/ a 125 for an aro like i did. 180's are a lot better cuz of the 6" more you get on the width and not too hard to find. would last a lot longer in one than a 125. good luck.

problem w/ getting a black is you have to get one that is already at least 7" (usually), but they do supposedly grow slower, whereas a silver you can get when theyre like 2", which gives you a little more time even they grow faster.

i'm in the process of researching what I'm going to do when my aro gets bigger. hopefully, ill be able to get a 540 or 900-gal

There is a 240 for sale in SoCal for $400 with stand and lights!!!

Where in SoCal? Dang, I'll probably never find a deal like that again. I'd need to borrow a truck from someone. Aw man, but I don't have any cash monies right now. Too bad. My mom basically laughed in my face when I mentioned it, though.

BTW really nice set up.

I actually had people tell me not to move away and go to college because my fish couldn't find new homes and I was trying to find homes for most of them.
I seriously cannot believe that I had that kind of discussion at one time, especially after how hard I tried to place these fish.
