What kind of sand are you using??

I got that tahitian black ****, I can't spell, at PETsMART.
It's the black sand.
I just threw it in the tank, and it sinks automatically, but so does the white variety buy the same company.
No cloudiness what-so-ever.
When you siphon it, it's just like gravel, it floats to the top of the siphon, but then goes right back down. I barely siphon any out, and with no hassle at all.
It's a god send sand.

Good luck.
Hi, there is a sand called black beauty, does the tahitan black **** look like black beauty?

Oh yeah.. i love fishies too and.......LOL :grinyes:

I have no idea what Black Beauty looks like.
Put it's pretty sweet.
My eel loves to dig around in it, and my puffers go crazy rolling around it in.

So I am here to bug you guys again to ask you about sand. I am putting it in my 30gal blah blah so when I go to clean my tank.... how do I clean it, or do you clean it, or is it like kitty litter and you have to try to sccop it out O__o ??? Yah once again I am new with this lol.

Howdy,

put some Melanoides tuberculata snails in there. They live in the sand and clean it from the inside. Depending on how messy your fish are, you'll never have to actually clean the sand. I certainly don't clean mine. The snails dig the dirt up, it is transported to the surface, and it gets swirled around and sucked up by the filter. My plants eat the leftovers in the sand. If anything, you can remove dirt that lies on top of the sand when you change water.

Man, I love these snails.
