yet another nurse shark post

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My 18" nurse shark lived in my 225 until he was 36" then went to live in my friend's 135,000 gallon at his night club. That tank was 100 ft. long and shaped like a dumbbell so that the sand tigers could turn around easily. Thirteen sharks lived happily in that tank for a long time.

He ate pound of fresh squid every 2-3 days. He'd stick his head out of the top of the tank and spit water on the floor when he was hungry. Most active nurse shark I've ever seen. He was constantly in motion and rarely sat still.

225g like 5'X3'X2'? at three feet, it would have been cramped in there.
nice to hear of a relatively happy nurse shark story though. got pics of your old fish/tank/nightclub tank?

Kind of like Pacific and Atlantic black tip reef sharks.
I would guess the common nurse are the same way. The nurses I've delt with hands on have all been Atl - and lacked the pattern at birth.

Black tip reef sharks (Carcharhinus melanopterus) don't live in the Atlantic Ocean, maybe you mean Black tip sharks (Carcharhinus limbatus), but they're a different species.

This isn't a general shark post. This was created it primarily for the nurse shark.
