Yet ANOTHER RTC - Whats happening???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
looking good! I've noticed that rtcs seem to change their color quit often while growing up. This is a little strange though. lol. Mine had half white fins and now their black. He still hasn't lost his spots around his dorsal fin though. Those four white spots usually disappear at around 12-14".

Yeah I'm aware of the white spots going away... Busters Color changes from day to day... Since the hunger strike his colors are getting better, and during his colors just faded tail was actually white white with no pink at all and his top half looks like he was being bleached it was so light for a couple of days he hardly looked like a RTC but some sort of mutant or an albino.

I'm sure if I add some dark substrate he would darken right up, but the problem is that he has a weird issue with slamming rocks up against the glass as hard as he can... and I can't put Sand in with him because he kicks it up so much that I have to clean the filters ever couple of days.

Keep up the great work! This is an awesome thread and I have been drooling over RTCs for some time now. I hope to get one when I have the room and means for a bigger tank.
Good Luck with Buster

Thats Nice of you to say thank you :)

It's best to wait till you are ready to either upgrade qucikly or already have the huge tank/pond ready for them. I just wish that my TSNs and TSN/RTC's would have their growth spurts already cause I'd really like to be able to get them all together at some point LOL

Welcome.
Yeah, thats why I have only been drooling over them. I care about my fish too much to make them suffer in a too small tank. I was already making plans for an indoor pond for my Colombia Shark Cat and they don't get that big:D Alright so they are dinky compared to a RTC. Sadly I lost him the other day and trying to decide if I want to try another one or some other kind of cat...
Good luck with all your Cats, I'm jealous:hypnotize

awe he's so cute! I have officially named mine fat albert! He's getting huge, but more girth than length lol.

Thats kind of the reason for the thread is for me to be able to document his growth on here for all those that think this is a cute little fish which they might be able to take care of but don't realize that I've had him 3 months and 1 day and he's actually pushing 13inches as he seems to be going through another growth spurt. I haven't moved him back to his 300 yet as I still haven't received it back from being repaired and the filters are still cycling, I might move him to one of my 180's if things don't happen soon with the 300. I really don't want to keep moving him but I will wait till I no longer feel he's comfortable.
