Okay, so my mom tells me that there's two 7'' CLs at this LPS about 45 minutes away. I just went there today, and they had ich.... It was a M&P store that I had never been to before, so I talked to the lady who appeared to be in charge, and she said that she knew that they had ich. "Ick is present in every aquarium at all times" she explained to me. I told her that ick would kill all of her fish if she didn't treat them (medicinal or temperature-wise, etc.), and she just said "Thanks honey" and walked away. I was disguisted.
The two CLs were $44.99 each at about 6'', and they had a RTC that was about 15'' for about 80 bucks.
After eating lunch, I decide to go back, and talk to her again, saying how dissappointed with the store. This time, I talked to a younger employee and find out that the lady is the boss' sister. The young guy didn't know that there was ich in the tanks, and I told him that it could wipe out his entire stock. Then, the boss walked up and asked me if I even knew what ich was. I went "Ick is a parisitic infe-" but he cut me off and told me that I had nothing to worry about because he had a UV sterilizer running in the sump! There was still ich in the entire system! He went on to tell me that if he had a case of ick, he would cut off the sump from the tank w/ ick in it, but the tank with the infected CLs still had the sump water running in and out of it! I asked him if he would not sell fish from the system since there was ich, and he said "If you can see the ick, just don't buy them from that tank! Simple."
It gets better.
Then he claimed that the two 6'' CLs were breeding because one was laying on its side, and the other one was acting weird. I could just visualize the loaches itching themselves b/c of the ick. (For those of you that don't know, it's common for Clown Loaches to lay on their side as if they're dead). At that point, I realized that I was talking to a wall, and I just let it go. There was no point in going on.
Sorry for the long speech, I just needed to cool off.
