Yo Joe - visit to JoeFatFish - Beani & Istlanum

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Very nice fellas! Beautiful Beanis Joe! When are you going to pull the fry or remove the other neighboring fish so they don't all get eaten?

Btw, where's the pictures of the Istlanums?

I will be at the ACA convention this summer in Cinci, I hope some Beanis make an appearance. If they have the breeding dress of those shown here, I don't see how they can't win something. Very special.

Ruck Fules...again, thank you for taking pics of my fish, and for posting them for me, for all to see.

Not a problem bro. I wish I could have taken better pics.

Let me know if you need another tank. This time it's a show tank with two permanent acrylic dividers. 5x2x2.

Those fish are incredible. I never really thought they looked very nice, but this is the first time I've seen breeding colors. WOW!

I have attended the ACA every year for the past 5 years, and God willing, I will be at the Cinci show. I do plan, if possible to take juv. Beani to sell and spread around. I dare not take any of my adults, as I fear losing them. I do have 1 more large 6" male, with perfect finnage, color and pattern, absolute perfect show specimen and stud for a F1 female of the batch of fry I have now. But again, the adults stay home.

Just a quick note. I collected these Beani from Rio Baluarte, near Mazatlan. It is about a 1/2 hour drive South from Presidio, on the Federal road. The exact location is at the foot of the Mountains, behind the City of Rosario, in the town of "La Hacienda", about a 2 1/2 hour drive from Mazatlan. I think it important, that people do NOT cross-breed the differant type locations. I can't control that, put I urge people, once these become more available again, to try and stick to that. I did bring back a couple of Beani from Rio San Pedro, which is in another state. I do not know if they are male and female, and they are now in the hands of another collector/breeder. That varient is very differant in color than the Baluarte ones. I feel it important to bring Beani back, strong in the hobby, but feel it even more important to be even more responsible in breeding true type locality specimens. At this point, I think most beani out there are Baluarte, if you can trace them back to me. Thanks all!

Amen to that. Who knows in this age of DNA and massive splitting of species if these beani locations will end up being differant species or not!
