I just added a wet/dry to my 2 fluval fx5's on my 220 gal. tank. it holds what looks like about 5 gal. of bioballs which i added biomedia from an ac110 with a mag700 pump. i never used a wet/dry before. now here is the question, i had to remove my bubbler. will the wet/dry oxygenate the water enough?

Most of your oxygenation comes from surface agitation and I would say that with all the filters and high rate of flow that you have with all of them, there wont be any issue of stagnate surface water.

also, the j-tubes that go from my overflow to the actual filter has an air bubble. well, one jtube has no air bubble, the other has one, is that a problem? i used the little rubber tube thing to suck the air out, do i need to do it again?

Yep, you have to keep an eye on it, if the tubes get too much air in them, then of course you are going to lose syphon.

Wet/dry filters are the best at oxygenating the water.

Even if the surface of the tank looks still.........you dont need to worry about it with a wet/dry.

yea, if you look at a W/D there is a lot of splashing that goes on when the water trickles down the media. That is good for the fish and the bacteria

i am a wet/dry fan now... it makes alot of noise but i like it. i bought one because i didnt want to take any chances, and it is worth every penny.

Great subject.

I notice that a lot of wet/dry sumps have the bio media area sealed off pretty well.

Would using an air pump to pump air into this chamber be a good mod or not worth the effort?

It really wouldn't do anything, you will be fine with just the trickling.

Why does your w/d make alot of noise?
I made my w/d & diy over flows & it is almost silent...
