When you rasised the temperature, what did you set it at and how long did you keep it at that temp? You should keep the temperature at 81-82F regardless if it helps their personality or not but for their metabolism and activity levels. At 72F most tropical fish are going to go into hibernation (figuratively speaking lol). Also there should not be such large temperature swings...72F-77F is huge and stressful to the fish.

As far as the Oscars sulking...I say sell them and get a pair of Trimacs. You'll most likely never see any wimpy sulking out of them I promise.

6-8 ph is a quite a huge difference, actually a pH of 6 is 100 times more acidic as a ph of 8 to be exact. If the ph is swinging in between 6 and 8 that could be stressing your Os out. If the temp is going form 72-77 daily that could also be the problem. In the wild Os would experience this kind of temperature change daily but tank bred Os are going to stress changes much more.

I have found Oscars like a lot of bubbles. My current fish seem to avoid staying in the bubbles for two long but when I had Oscars they loved spending time there.

Are these the same oscars that are with the red devil and flowerhorn?
