The Unknown...
I sort of had a feeling that this was inevitable, I was just hoping to save up enough $$$ to buy a bigger tank and seperate the big bichirs from the small ones before it did. Today I came home from work to find my 10" Ornate with a Huuuuuuge fatty fat belly! Seeing as how there was no small fish or food in the tank for him to eat the first thing I did was look around to see who could have been the victim. He has already helped himself to one of my 7" Hujenta Gars so I knew he could eat big stuff. I keep all my bichirs well fed, but I guess his appetite is growing just like his size. Anyways after looking around the tank for about 20 seconds I realized that the victim was my 9" Ropefish Slick Rick. I had Slick Rick as long as I've had my tank so he was one of my favorite fish in my tank. It sucks that he ended up in that fat bastards belly! Early in the week I lost my without a doubt favorite fish my needlenose Mama to some unknown death :(. It's been a rough week to say in the least.

Bummer but the bichirs are looking good.

ropefish r always welcomed by those large bichirs...jk
really sorry to hear that , but i have heard many times that bichir eat ropefish, u should not put them together if u r not prepared for the loss:(

it'll happen. bump up the serving amount, his stomach is expanded now

yeap some times it happens it a tough loss but just remember if they can fit it in their mouths it´s food I had my polys on pellets and they still nipped fins I changed to sliced fish and the are now much better tank mates

Yeah I was hoping that the ropefish would grow much larger and fatter. They had been tankmates for about a year and a half and I was hoping that would help him stay alive long enough for me to get another tank to put him and the smaller bichirs in. I guess that fat bastard was thinking otherwise.
