No family has the most consistent array of sass, spikiness, gluttony, longevity and hardiness as the catfish. The more I study nature as a whole the clearer it is to me that nothing has met the wiles of her torrents like the catfish. The speciation, the opportunistic way of life, the blending of all predatory and camoflage traits...there's just nothing like them. Amblydoras Nauticus and Banjo cats have learned to drift like leaves to the point where you and I can pick them up and put them back down without them so much as flexing a muscle. Platydoras break out the heavy artillery and armor, slashing with their pectoral fins while flanked on their bony sides with the teeth of a saw blade. Acanthucus adonis mutilates any intruders with a thrust of its pectoral clubs adorned in thorns of indignant rage. And when the dust settles, each character has returned to its niche and you never know what hit you.
