My pair of Caqeutaia kraussi have spawned again. The number of fry is staggering -, I estimate in the thousands. Kraussi anyone?

Gasp. Wow is all I can say. What are you gonna do with all that fry?

I saved some fry from the last spawn. The rest were eventually picked off by the other tank inhabitants. I'll just let nature take its course with this spawn.

Fantastic! That is a ton of fry. How big is the mom?

"Mom is only around 6-7". "Dad" is about 10". They're only a year old so I'm sure they'll get bigger than that.
I just went down to check on the cloud of fry and for the most part the parents are keeping them in a fairly tight grouping, but as the odd one strays from the pack, a 10"predator is there to pick them off. Here he is waiting patiently for his "snacks".

I had three large Paretroplus menarambo in there. They're not in there any more. I had to pull them, otherwise I'm sure they would have been killed by the male 'kraussi' by morning.

Wow AGAIN? I added my female to the 75 w/ my male and some juvie pikes. Male has completely dug out left side of tank, so I might add a big clay strawberry pot 2moro and see what happens.Sent from my DROID4 using MonsterAquariaNetwork App

James, good luck with your pair. The phrase "be careful what you wish for" comes to mind. It's nice to have the big "rough and tumble" species do their thing but there are downsides. I wasn't expecting another spawn so soon after the first. This time the pair is really terrorizing the other inhabitants. I think they are doing that much more to ensure their latest batch survive. I think I'll net out most of the spawn to try and reduce the aggression.
