That is pretty big what's their diet?Sent from my Desire HD using MonsterAquariaNetwork App

I checked online for their maximum size. One site said 12" , another about 16". There doesn't seem to be too much info out there on this species.
They eat everything I put in the tank, but I feed mostly pellet foods. They have a huge appetite!!

I think my pair DID THE DEED. Male and Female are together, have TOTALLY dug out left side of tank, tubes out and females is suddenly swollen bellied. They also kicked all 3 atabapo II pikes, who were running the tank previously out of their spot and had all 3 hiding in a piece of pvc tubing. I didn't want to disturb them and I think they laid on the back side
Of the driftwood centerpiece. I guess I will know for sure if a big fry ball like you did.

Good to hear it. Now the "fun" begins.

Are you leaving your fry in the tank or sucking them out? W/ the pikes in their, I will have to suck them out I guess. Now I need to talk the manager of my lfs/good friend out of the proven pair of myersi he is holding for himself lol.

I didn't save any of this spawn, but from the last one I sucked a couple of hundred out. The latest spawn is no more, they've been "snacked on". Hope you manage to pry the 'myersi' off of your friend. I've got 4 of them coming up; they're still small (3-4") ; hoping for a pair.

I have one about the same size now. My buddy put pair in a breeder tank, but he said if they show any aggression towards each other he was gonna give them to me because I have more room. I just moved my pair of pindare, pair of neambi, pair of tapajos and trio of notatus into a 125, so I have 5 open tanks at the moment and will probably suck the kraussi out if I can and move fry outdoors in spring. The kraussi pair is vigorously defending the backside of the wood where I think the eggs are, fingers crossed.
