you guys gotta see this

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
First, the albino Oscars are dipped in acid to remove the slime coat. The ones that survive that stage are then placed into blue dye. Those still living after that are shipped all over the place and of the few that survive that, most die in homes in their already weakened state. A few do live, and eventually are able to reattain their original color.

I'm ashamed of you guys. You should be supporting and promoting the hobby of fishkeeping, not hating on someone because you're jealous of their raravivitious fish.

This is another example of the torture fish are put through to satisfy our need to be unique. It's a horrible practice as described by Knifegill, most fish die from the process or at best live shortened lives due to it. Anytime you see a fish sold as a "Blueberry Oscar" or some other clever name to market the fish it is a victim of this type of torture, quality stores with any reputation or respect for the hobby will not carry this type of fish. I think the woman selling this fish is also a victim of naively buying into this type of deceptive marketing and unfortunately doesn't know any better. I don't think she's an idiot I think she misinformed.

Raravivity is a pretty cool word, I'll have to use it some time. Maybe the meaning could be a uniquely bright color, we could go with that, an MFK word is born!

shes not a victum shes an idiot. i tell her and my sister all the time how to care for there fish but they dont listen to a word i say because its always no u cant keep that many fish in that tank or no that fish is gunna get two feet and u got a 3 foot tank so they think im jealous or some ****.. its sad and it pisses me right off ive even went as far as to donate a full 75 gal setup to her for 1 oscer but since theyve grown up together they are going to be like brother and sister according to her. makes ya wish they had fish rescue teams and not just dogs
