You know what drives my crazy? Seriously. Really.

I feel the same way about livebearers.. I always end up feeding out my pretty males due to harassing the poor girls to much.

Those species have it easy compared to bettas. If somebody line-bred friendly bettas they'd be rich.

Meh, it's life. Well not really life but fish life. I do not condone woman beating. lol.

In the wild though, I would think the female of any pair would just try and take it's young and leave the male. In a tank though your pretty much screwed. But....I've had female convicts literally kill males though so it can go either way.

its nature..and depends on the individual fish..i had allot of male bettas form my spawns that could be left with the females in the grow out tank for almost 6 months, and iv had females that would try and kill anything in the tank that could be a betta...so it goes both ways and is based mostly on the fish in my opinion. (i was trying for calmer males and females)

The stronger, more aggressive male gets the female to ensure survival of the species. Only the strong get to mate because they have the best genes to pass on. The female might get abused by her partner, but she's OK with it.

I have the opposite problem with my convicts. The female beats the hell out of the males. I am not sure what triggers the switch but after the fry become free swimming, a few days later she'll suddenly start chasing them and attacking them.

You know what I hate? How the wife and I concieved a few months back, and she's been beating me up! Is there a Men In Need? Def. was not like this the first pregnancy!
