I know the exact ornaments your describing I accidentally killed a rosy red minnow with one and nearly killed the same African Cichlid twice with them I'm glad I learned with the rosy red tho that they can be fatal if not properly checked or that African Cichlid definitely would have kicked the bucket.

THey haven't been around for like 200million years by accident, glad to hear he's ok, prob one of the only fish that could have survived
I got that ornament from a store that was closing for $5. i had my little senegal for 3 years would have been horrible. youde be surprised cause at the same time i brought home yesterday a sleeper goby from my cousins house. they gave me their 55g two weeks ago and yesterday asked hey do u want a fish? i said what fish and they showed me a little container with mud water in the backyard holding the 5" goby. he was there for like 3 weeks when they tore down the tank.
