Young Endlicheri not eating

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ok so here's quick update. All my other Bichirs have eaten the talapia. My bigger Endlicheri took some time and coaxing at first but eventually got him to eat it.

The sick patient however has not eaten the talapia so I think I may need to try the garlic oil soak to entice it. Going to try this

Ok so no luck at all !! The little guy refuses to eat even after I ve soaked the talapia in garlic oil. And now I find him on his back and has a difficult time turnin over. He flutters his fins but doesn't really get anywhere and he bends into a U a lot and if he gets upright he just lays there or is moved around the cooler in the current over and over and over again. I dosed the cooler with the prazipro but I feel as though it may be too late. If he refuses to eat that's not a good sign.

I ve enclosed a photo of him now and he's not dead.

That's not looking too well at all. Doubt it'll make it. Not trying to stay negative. I suggest trying to turn it over and put some plants or something there to get it to stay upright.

I've thought of using some spare gravel I have from my 29 gal that i sold. It's smaller grain and I can mold it around him the water level is too low for any of my plants as they re all over 8 inches tall. I've gotten over the fact he's probably gonna pass so I ve already called the store and they re willing to replace him with a senegalus which I don't really want but they already have them in store and have been there since my ornates got there. So I'm gonna sleep on it tnte and decide in the morning.

Any updates JuniorMonsterKeeper JuniorMonsterKeeper ?

He's still alive and I don't see the little peice of talapia I put in before I went to sleep. And he's laying upright infront of the filter which leads me to believe he could b doing a little better. im not sure if I should do a water change since I put he prazipro in yesterday as a single dose lasts 3-7 days according to the bottle. But I know that fresh water and salt is beneficial for sick fishies.

Check the water first. If ur water parameters are high then do a water change. It needs clean water at all times. Try to avoid any and all stress....even the wc's.

Glad to hear and seems better.

Ok well - it's definitly too late I just checked the little guy before I checked the water parameters and gave him a few nudges with no motion. So i picked him up and no response to being pulled out of the water was all I needed to know that he was gone. Gonna freeze him and take him to the lfs so they can check out what was wrong with it. Thanks guys this was def a learning experience.
