How do you know they are 4 weeks old? I breed captive bred retic (teacup) rays and usually by 3 inches or so they are about 2 months old. If you can get your hands on live black worms it is rare for them to not eat them. I personally would pull all of the tank mates that you currently are housing them with.

i know they are 4 weeks old..some one in a near by city had the parents and it had 2 females and 1 male..so i got 1 male and 1 of the females from him..i had to wait the 4 weeks befor he would let them go.

You could buy a divider and put it in when its time to feed I do it with my retic because my silver dollars eat the worms in like 10 seconds

WOW seriously I didn't know there was anybody else anywhere breeding retic's. As far as I knew I was the only one. So he sold them to you and called them (teacups)? And you don't know if they are eating or what? And he was ok with you putting them in a tank with your current tank mates. I am shocked.

yes ....this person lives in muskegon, mi he had a male and female he does not breeded them..he said he got up to feed them in morning and found babies in the tank..he had them for 3 years..(parents)and yes. he said they are eating fine on brine shrimp..but i dont know because the other fish eats it right up..and yes i said i had a 220gal tank w/ them fish in it to him......

Brine shrimp isn't a real nutritious food for little pups. If you could find black worms your would be better off and yes if you could seperate them from the other tank mates or re-home the other tank mates your little retics will have a far better chance of eating well and thriving.

The main thing at this young age is to make sure they are eating so yes I'd remove the tank mates. Black worms are ok but that makes it harder to wean onto other foods later. I'd try earthworms finely chopped. Good luck.

I have yet to get retic pups to eat anything but black worms for the first 8 weeks at least. (8 litters of these guys so far with number 9 on the way) Normally right around 8 weeks or so we can wean them onto really small chopped night crawlers. They do have tiny little mouths. Luckily with CB pups you usually don't have the horrible weaning transition you have with WC rays.
