The tank is ok, as long as he can swim and turn normally, then it's fine.

Yeah, that looks like a 75g which is usually standard minimum for a male Midas but that big guy would look awesome in a 125g.
And I agree, I think Midas are the best thing Petsmart has to offer. Here's my little 3.5" baby:
