I don't know how I can make it any more simple....
The main goal of it is to get the tank.

You use friend one to see how he responds to a low ball offer to see if you can save money.

If he rejects the low ball offer then he will most likely ignore friend one because he tried to low ball him.

That's why YOU come in and offer the price he wants. If you're the only one interested in the tank then he should accept and it ends here.

If he has multiple offers then that means there is a chance that you may not end up with the tank that you NEED. That's why you recruit friend 2 to offer above asking price. This should make him sell it to you.

That's how you get the tank in most cases.

I just realized that I made it unnecessarily complicated by bringing in friend 2 when you yourself could havery just as easily done the work of what friend two would have done. Sorry about that.

Please don’t ever try to buy anything from me. One thing I can’t stand is when I’m selling anything is tire kickers. If you don’t have cash in hand don’t bother wasting my time.

Now how is what I posted being a tire kicker? There is every intention to buy the tank, this is just a guide on how to maximize your chances to get the tank with the added benefit of also possibly saving some money. And when I said lowball I'm talking about offering a little less then listed price, not a drastic drop. I'm not a jerk.

Because your waisting the time of the seller. If you have every intention of buying it then show up with cash in hand. The seller is likely to negotiate if you just shoot it straight from the start. Don’t bombard the seller with lowball offers that is a shisty move. If someone contacted me without even seeing the item I’m selling and try’s to talk prices then there not a serious buyer.

My ex-roommate got a glass 6ft 125gal tank, homemade stand, 100lbs or so of sand substrate, 50lbs or so of decor rocks, homemade 6ft LED light for $100 bucks.
75gal Seaclear acrylic tank with built-in sump, stand, 4ft Marine light $50
46gal bowfront, stand, glass lid, $50 +a free 50gal hextank
The next day we went and picked up a free 50gal corner tank with glass lid, stand, light.

Now that's good, I'm a bit jealous because of the sheer quantity

The funny thing is, he traded the 46bow tp me for a standard 20gal. He then moved out and left all the tanks save the 20gal and said "Take them to the dump, what ever I don't care"

So now I have them....20180801_104008.jpg

I like the stand on the $400 one. It's nice and simple and had the real wood look I love.
