Your biggest and smallest fish?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've had a number of fish get a much larger over the years( true goramy's for one).
But the way I determine personal success within a species, is one that I spend a number of years with, and has spawns enough times so young can be distributed.
This haitiensus hit @ 15" .

And I suppose there were a few smaller in the beginning with some community tank fish (like neons)
But I was able to BAP fry from this rare Seychelles island killifish (Pacypanchax playfairi) at my local aquarium club just before moving to Panama, its because I'm mostly a cichlid fanatic, but the killi took me out of my comfort zone, and was the first killi, to successfully spawn for me.

Largest? I pretty much stopped keeping monsters many years ago; the largest I ever owned was probably either a Jelly Cat or an Osphronemus Giant Gourami (if going by weight) or an Electric Eel (if going by length) that hit about 40 inches before I very carefully re-homed him. Largest currently is a Jelly Cat I recently got, maybe 7 inches; I won't be getting back into monsters in a big way, but I have wanted another one of these since regretfully leaving the other one back in Ontario. This will be my one big fish for the foreseeable future.

Smallest? Not counting fry, the smallest I have are my wonderful little Heterandria mosquito fish. I seem to recall that these were at one time considered the smallest vertebrate species on the planet, but they had that crown stolen by another fish, and then still another fish, and now by a frog! So now they are the world's smallest livebearing vertebrate. Whatever; they have been a favourite of mine forever. I had a colony going for many years in Ontario; finally found them again here in Manitoba, grew up a population, lost almost all of them to a tank failure, increased their numbers again, lost most of them again when their above-ground pond was destroyed by a bear (gotta love rural Manitoba...), and am now slowly building them up again. Considering my history with them...they probably don't like me as much as I like them. :)

Now, let's make this thread interesting...@thebiggerthebetter needs to respond here!
