Your bravest fish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have a warmouth sunfish, who's essentially a mini freshwater grouper and can tell the difference between me and other people. Sometimes I like to freak people out a bit by getting them to hold a piece of shrimp right at the surface of the water, because warmouths are ambush predators that go from hovering a foot below the target to launching up and grabbing both the food and the fingertips holding it. She's made a grown man yelp like a startled puppy.

The bravest fish I ever saw was a 4" Blue Gourami that was in my wifes' 75g. It got aggressive and was picking on everything and she just wanted it gone. I took it and threw it in with three 9"-11" Oscars thinking it would be toast in no time. NOPE!!!!! It lived in there for about a year and the Oscars where "scared" of its tentacles!

I would have to say female convicts. I've had a 2.5 inch female attack a 12 pike cichlid and back him down. My honorable mention would have to go to the demasonis I have had. They always push around larger fish and eat more than their fair share of the food.

My 8" clown loach....well, all of them really....they eat right from my hand, at the top of the tank and stay there when I go to get more.
My Koi with eat from my hand....even come up and nibble my fingers when I want to pet him....just sits there like,"dude, fine, pet me but when do I get food? Hahah!
I had an Oscar for years that I got at about 1"...scared of his shadow until he got to be about 13"....then over night he would literally biteme and draw blood if I put my hands ANYWHERE in the tank....
