I like my big silver but I don't like DE and I raised my jar from a baby. He is intelligent and cunning. Befriended my African cichlid and then ate him.

I'll be the first to admit they just don't stack up with silvers as far as beauty...but having (finally) owned one, they just have awesome personalities and are much more interactive then silvers.

However...I really haven't had much experience with any others.

When I put my big silver into my pond he had DE bad in one eye it has almost completely corrected itself

Having and having kept all of those listed (except the black), I would have to say the African is my favorite. If youve kept one, you know what I'm talking about Plus they are more closely related to arapaimas than arowanas.
