personality hands down fire eels, though most spineys ime are extreamely intelligent and personable in general.. stingrays are a close second but my favorite fish to just sit and watch are gar... such calm peaceful creatures.. until they strike. atm my favorite fish is our cuban gar.. my husbands is our aba aba knife... but i recently bought a juvi fire eel.. so once he grows abit and starts showing that personality he may take over as my "favorite" fish.
Favorite fish: Stingray
My ray, named Raylan after the lead on Justified, died a couple days ago. He was awesome, a pig, and very active. Cause of death is still unknown. The LFS said my water is perfect for housing him and the tank was plenty large. It was very hard to accept he was gone
Current favorite: my 12"+ fire eel
He's awesome. LFS felt bad about the ray and pretty much gave this guy to me free. He's been a good companion, and immediately fit in with my other fish. Very friendly and curious, he LOVES to sleep in one of my filters at night. I came one morning and saw him missing, turns out he was in the filter. It happened again last night too. In the morning I open the filter lid to check o him, he's happy and fine. I put a block of blood worms in the tank and he slithers back in for breakfast.
Second favorite: Elephant nose
The elephant nose, chosen by my wife, is my fire eel's best friend. They swim around together and explore the tank. These two like to hide with my two clown knives as well, the knives are inseperable.
I need to find one last fish to add to this tank seeing as I can only keep these fish for another 5 months before I move to Hawaii. Then the fish are going in my LFS's giant "house" tank. I believe it's a 535, but it might be larger.
