so it says butterfly fish pick at corals and eat crustations, does that mean a butterfly fish would eat your cleaners ex. hermit crabs, snails, shrimp , ect?......i like butterfly fish i would like to have one

if this is possible, what would be a good choice for a community tank.. i like the copperband and the pig faced puffer, keep in mind im new to the sw trade so for all i know neither of these would work, thats why im askin

sorry didnt mean pig face puffer, meant to just say pig face butterfly fish, thats the only name i can find for it on google. its a blue fish with darker blue bands and the back half of the fish is yellow. any way i hope one of those butterfly fish are compatible for a community tank

Yeah, I have xenias, toadstool leather, mushrooms, candycanes, and 3 RBTA. I even tried putting pics of other clowns hosting taped to the tank because I have heard that works sometimes. No luck though.

LOL wish I could have seen that.

They should be fine in community FOWLR's given the space (talking about butterfies in general) They will take passes at polyps though, and also inverts if they get the chance most likely.

so even the copperbanded butterfly with his tiny mouth might eat crustations? are you talking about copapods or like shrimp and hermit crabs? ive got hermit crabs , snails, a coral banded shrimp, i just cant imagine that the copperbanded could take one of these out, but please tell me if im wrong.

thank you.

P.S i added new critters to the tank, i now have brittle leg starfish, black spine sea urchin, and a sea hair wich absolutly blows me away ive never seen one before

The best and most awesome looking saltwater fish I ever had was a pinatus bat. Awesome coloration and recognised me. It would let me pet her (Didn"t know the sex really) I would sit mesmerized watching her move about the tank

Imagine you are a small invert on the reef. Its a dangerous place, full of predators, but it is also an area of great abundance. Life happens to be good for you though, as you have found yourself a tiny hidey hole that onl you can fit into. Then...MR COPPERBAND with his long nose....get where this is going?

I would not be surprised to see them go after the hermits. Coral banded is probably safe, but anytime you mix inverts with a long nosed pred like that you are asking for problems. They cant hide from a tool specifically designed to weeding them out.

These fish are sweet. Never seen one in person or known anyone that actually had one. You should post some pictures! :D

For fish I love my possum wrasse and my scooter blennies. And for inverts I love my skunk cleaner shrimp and my brittle stars they are both very interactive.
