Your first ever tank.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My first Tank was about a 25 gallon will spider man gravel started with goldfish went guppies and neons couldent keep neons alive then started getting cichlids

my first tank was a 20G with UGF it had a air pump that I gave to my ex GF a year ago. it had a Common pleco that lasted 7 years and an assortment of barbs. my sister decided to clean the tank and added dish soap. it killed all the fish except the pleco. mom grabbed a pot of water and filled it with tap water. grabbed the Pleco and put it in the pot. we cleaned the tank and gravel and refilled. didn't adjust water temp and put him back in. he lived for another 5 years.

some sort of hexagonal tank maybe 5 or 10 gallons with an undergravel filter and a light in the bottom:screwy: everytime the incandescent bulb blew (and it happened alot) we (mostly my mum, i was 4) had to completely empty the tank to change the bulb. it had some guppies which bred, and later 5 shubunkins. the tank eventually leaked. then a few years later i got a 5 gallon tank which sort of started my love for fishkeping. i still have it even though it is used to store fish stuff and probably leaks.

I had something like a 30 gallon tall I can only remember it having angels for awhile and then later added some kind of albino catfish or loach. Shortly after adding the albino guy either it killed the other fish or they died and it survived and started to eat them. Thats the last I can recall about it. This was about 15+ years ago and my memory is terrible. I do remember thinking the stick on digital thermometer was the coolest thing ever haha.

When i was just a kid, My very first tank was like probably half a gal. plastic rectangle tank... i had a few feeders in there.... but only one made it alive and grew to about 5 inches, with no filtration or anything... i didn't know that a filter was needed... :screwy: all i thought was just to change the water... hahah. After the last survivor goldfish feeder past away. i didn't look into fish till like probably 12-13 years later.
I started liking fish again from just staring at my friends 100 gal. tank, and And thats what got me started with my First REAL tank... a 55 gal. with lights, cannister filter, heater and gravel! Fishes were... a Australian Aro, and 2 blue colored blood parrots (i didn't know that they were dyed at the time to make them blue). But from there on... i was hooked and never stopped this fish hobby. :D

don't remember the size of the one I had when I was a kid, it was my mom's thing, one of those funny shaped ones.

had goldfish and angel fish inside.... then it just disappeared one day and in true kid style i don't think i ever really noticed...

when i was 6 or 7 years old (im now 25) i got a 2ft tank made by my parents friend for xmas. he gave me one of his bettas, some of his guppies, corys etc and some of his gravel with ugf. all equipment i needed and they set it up for me to come down to on xmas morning. he turned into my mentor for starting out, he built a tank for my sis later on but she abandoned it and i took it over. i did all the maintenance on it except carry the filled bucket cos i was too little.
