Emaciated kid "week from death" saved from barn.
The kid was living off twigs and leaves for food and wasn't really allowed to leave the barn, he may need surgery to remove twigs from his stomach.
He also had a untreated head injury and a year old shotgun wound to the leg from his father (maybe he tried to run off?)

Though this kid was starving the parents were chunky.
The kid said he had been living off leaves and twigs for two years.

I guess they didn't teach him to chew his food.
