Eheim is my personal fave cannister. Does anyone have an Eheim filter that also heats the water? Good thing or bad idea?

mine too mines not heated wish it were
great for distibuting the heatid water through the tank dont have to worry about it breaking and dont look ugly

Eheim of course. Prolly one of the best if not the best yet.

I have a XP3 and I hooked up a Lifegard AF-94 mechanical module before it as I prefilter.
The XP3 is purely biological with ceramic rings and balls , and the foam pads that came with the filter.
I switch the micron cartridge once a week to a clean one , and rince and bleach the dirty one. Works great , I dont have to clean the XP3 hardly at all. Last I checked the was a little bit of sludge in it , after 3 months. This requires some plumbing ofcourse.

Its only my opinion,

But ive had nothing but trouble with fluvols ( only had the 404 ,403 ) Much prefer ehiems

issues :
1. hosing coming off causing flooding
2. constant cleaning needed
3. pressure loss

ehiem
1. no issues to date.

I dont like canister filters they are such a pain in the butt to clean and they arent much for biological filtration I much prefer a big filter that hangs off of the back where you just pull the cartridges.

ok i have JBl's, CASCADES, but my favorites are my 3 EHEIMs for staying power, maintenance time , and easyness to clean. go for the new 2080 pro III
