getting newly acclimated rays to eat pellets is no easy task. You're best off trying some type of meaty food in a bare bottom tank or with very thin substrate. Earthworms usually work a treat. Most of the rays ive owned quickly took a liking to small pieces of squid tentacles... don't know how nutritioud squid is but it worked real well for me.

Those are the usual size for tank bred specimens. It`s hard to tell from your pics but most exporters cover the barb with a piece of insulation plastic found on wiring to prevent them piercing the bag during shipment. As they aren`t fed 2 days prior to shipment (to avoid pollution) they should be eating within 24 hours. We always feed our new arrivals with blood worms, seems to work well.

This is the smallest pups i have ever seen in Australia that have been sold... my other breeders pups are born at minimum 10cm so how can this pup be 8.5cm and the seller has told us they were 4 months old now wot a joke.... the seller has offered $180 money back, but this is nothing compared to the total price of $1480 for the 4.... But on a positive side they are smashing the live earthworms so this should be good for fattening them up for a while hopefully. Also heres some pics of an accurate measurement and another problem with 1 of the other males my friend got has a Mike Tyson tattoo and i have no idea wot this is or wot to do about it?? can anyone help out on that? Thanks for all your input/advice everyone!

Wow they are small! But what is really amazing is the price you paid. $1480 for 4. Sorry but unless they drop gold nuggets that is 8-10 times the rate for such pups for an importer. The retail price would be under US$200 each.

LOL mate u have no idea how lucky u guys over in the states and everywhere else are..... everything is a million times harder to get here and cost a million times as much as u guys pay for them... i recently had a friend visit Canada and went to an LFS to check out rays cus he is a ray hobbyist from here in brisbane and he nearly fell over and died when the shop owner told him no one buys LEOs because they are to expensive at $400 each... for someone to purchase a Pure LEO here in AUS would cost in excess of $3000..... each, same as anything over here like cichla temensis rare as **** here and worth any where from $1000 + each and thats if u can find anyone that will sell them another example my red tail catfish, cheapest i could find at the time in whole country $700 at 30cm..... lol

I've heard of pure leos going for 10k in aus. I think it's because aus (new zealand aswell) have such strict rules regarding quarrantine and exotic species. What do you think are the chances of buying a leo from US or canada and importing it to aus? I'm sure theres some law prohibiting it. Either way, those price differences are real eye-openers
