I'm assuming I'll just mix up a custom solution and dose daily with this nifty device...

Either that or is it better to just add directly to the tank?
:help2:

Nice! Mixing it with liquid seemed to complicate things, at least in my opinion. I just add it dry, directly into the tank.

I dose Potassium Nitrate (KNO3) , Mono Potassium Phosphate (KH2PO4), and Seachem Equilibrium. And I add some Seachem Excel. That's all.

I dose the dry ferts once a week on a 10 gallon and 29 gallon low tech tank and add excel daily.

Fish crap mostly, I just overfeed them and let the plants deal with it
Yea I do overfeed also but that scares me a bit I don't want nitrogen and ammonia to get out of control.

I dose the dry ferts once a week
Is it beneficial to divide that weekly dose by 7 and dose daily? I wouldn't mind preparing 7 days worth of ferts maybe in a weekly medicine case and plopping them in daily.

or

Is it beneficial to stagger what types you dose. IE... KNO3 one day then KH2PO4 another and so on?

I've cut back on dosing much, on the last dregs of a bottle of API Leafzone and not sure if I'll get more, I just add a few drops after a water change every second day. I've been using root tabs around my root-feeding plants like Echinodorus and Cryptocoryne. Everything seems to be doing well, but I might see what sort of dry fertilizers the hardware store sells next time I'm there.

As I understand it you should dose macros and micros on different days

I do a water change and then add all my ferts at once. And I only add ferts once a week. Until I see a problem I will continue to do it this way. You should only increase if there is a clear sign of a nutrient deficiency.
