Your rarest fish.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
mine used to be my jaguar cat that died a week after i got him and my pacific ray

I guess my rarest is my tire track eel. not really rare but it doesn't have the typical pattern of tt eels, instead of the normal pattern of ovals, it has a broken zigzag pattern only on the top half of its body. and around here my red belly pacu is actually somewhat rare. most of the lfs around here don't order them because most people don't have a large enough tank for them and they don't have anywhere to put the ones that don't get sold. and at the few places that do have them, they are unhealthy. they hardly have any red and they are all scarred up from fighting. the only place I can get healthy pacu is petsmart. the one that I have right now is the healthiest one I've ever seen, it is nice and fat and has red all the way above the lateral line and it's about 8 or 9 inches.

Is there anyone else here on MFK with a Borneo Python Eel besides myself and Eoibio? The pattern on my mantilla/marbled motoro is pretty rare and I know there are a few MFKers with Aparicios but I would still say they're pretty rare.
that eel is awesome how big do they get and how much do they cost:drool:

3 asian stone cats (hara jerdoni), I have yet to see them sold online or in pet stores, and only once on ebay(when i bought them) and i don't know anyone who has or ever had them

ompok (ompok bimaculatus) ;) *snip* I'm not sure how rare they are, but I have only seen one at all of the many stores I've haunted and its mine now :D. You see a handful here on MFK. I think they are often misidentified by the LFS and then sold as something else like mine was. At $15 I wasn't arguing and think he was a great buy.

When I took over the fish area at my LFS All of the dalmatian mollies disappeared over 3 days while I was trying to sort out inventory. I started rooting around and found a plump brown catfish with a large mouth hiding behind a sponge filter. It took me a few days but I found it here; http://www.planetcatfish.com/cotm/cotm.php?article_id=300
He's only $10 or $15 but I can't get anyone to buy him. He's not "pretty" :( He's fun to watch and only hides sometimes.
I'd take the ompok home but I just set up a 55 for an electric cat.. Which I would say is easily my rarest and also found hiding in the LFS.

Lol this guys are sooooooo common here at Costa Rica, I mean REALLY COMMON!

Anyways, I guess for now the rarest fish I have are my Monocirrhus polyacanthus, a fish that is not very common around the world might be probably my Rivulus ithsmensis, very rare killifish around the world! I guess another rare fish are some livebearers from my country!
