The title of reasons for owning an Aro is different.....Some of us are owned by our wives:ROFL:
:D :D :D :D

They are like the "Great Whites" of freshwater fish with size, speed, a cavernous maw and superb vision. I selected the Silver as my first because the sinuous body movement was fascinating as well as the oral tentacles just skimming the surface.

I agree, Silvers have a gracefullness to them, but my Jars are just exiciting especially when you have 7 of them. It seems like they are all growing everyday especially when you properly feed them everyday.

It seems like the Asians are gracefully aggressive.....which I could have one

So I guess my silver aro is a classy monster!!!!!

and my Jars are little classy monsters!!!!!!

aros are in a class of their own

if you dont thing so why keep them

silver black asian jar aro they are all classy fish and no other fish holds its self in a tank like an aro

every other fish in my tank are just tank mtes for my aro

To be honest, I just wanted a surface fish to balance everything out. I only keep SA and CA fish, so it was pretty much my only option to keep with pike cichlids. I wish there was such a thing as 8'' Hatchetfish, but there arent. Im giving it to a buddy tonight because its gonna outgrow my 100g real soon. I got it in march at 6'' and its like 14'' today. No Aro maladies at all and it has a killer pink/red hue to it. Its going to a 240g, so I feel pretty good about parting with it.

Aros are definitely in a class of their own as far as being unique, must have species. They are the one fish that ALWAYS impresses people when they see my tanks. The first thing they say is: Whoa!! What kind of fish is that?!?!?!?...and it never fails...it's the aros every time.

...with the exception of my brother...he always asks me if he can poke my gar...and he's 25. :screwy:

buying my silver arowana was another impulse buy.. sorta. I saw them in the tank swimming.. several times watched some grow from babies in some of the LFS's tanks. I kept asking questions..

then one day i saw pinky in a tank with a bunch of other silver arowanas, she was the prettiest thing, and i had to have her, so she came home with us.

That's how it all starts!!!!!

i keep aros, because they are the dragon fish.. underwater dragon, what's more cool than having a pet from dinosaur ages??.. thats just one of the reasons, another, is because it makes me feel good to give a fish a good home, and observe that home in your own room
