It is not just on MFK but anyone that is big into turtles regards the FRT as the pinnacle of aquatic turtles (that are available)

What in the states? I can get them starting at 800 euros for a young unrelated pair in hamm:D Of corse that would be the comon fidjis, others like spoted or yellow fidjis are much more expensive.

this made me hate you just a little bit.... they are insanely priced here because there are VERY few around. I am not too familiar with them but if I recall correctly that is the going price for them here.

Actually there are not few around...there are simply few in the private sector. All that liltle hate you had toards me you should have toards US zoos that dont allow their surplus to enter the private sector, do you know major zoos freeze both eggs and babys of this deligthfull species because there are not enough institutions to receive them and they dont want the animals to be "comercialized"? Why dont you ask good old Tom C. about it, he knows that story all to well. Here in Europe they are TRIVING in private hands, actually I see high end people not working with them anymore and insted doing pilbara and kimberlly rock monitors.

Oh trust me I know. I used to work in a zoo and it pissed me off how many cool animals they freeze the eggs to. I know that one zoo freezes komodo dragon, mata mata, FRT, and Bothriechis nigroviridis eggs yearly (and that is just what I know of). I think that if they were to be more responsible about it, they could make a lot of extra money by selling them to the private sector.

And I was just kidding, I dont really hate you coura :-)

yes because they cant find room for them in other zoos and AZA prohibits them from selling animals. Dont get me started, that is a whole other thread

There's a bunch I'd like to have but the ones I'd go out and buy if I had the means?
Sungazers
Wood Turtles
more redfoots including a few 'cherryheads'
Aldabras
Burmese Browns
Loxocemus bicolor
