I am terrible for wandering around the house and leaving lights on. My wife hates it, she keeps saying the house is lit up like blackpool.

Excuse my ignorance, but what does that mean? A quick google search shows that it is a seaside town in England, but I don't get the reference. Is it a busy town/ seaport?

For me, I try to keep the lights off in the rooms I'm not in. Tanks are on timers.

Ah. haha. OK, thanks.

I'm usually up at night, so I have the tv on and a lamp beside me. That's it. Tanks come on at around 2:30-3:00pm and stay on till 11:30pm-12:00am or whenever I go to bed on weekends.

And for the actual event

We leave one light on in the kitchen, so it's never totally dark, but we're lit entirely with CFLs, we have no incandescent lights in the house. Made a pretty good difference in the electric bill until the )(*&^%$#@! electric company raised the rates.
First electric company jerk: Save electricity!
2nd electric company jerk: We're not selling enough electricity now, we need to raise the rates!

I live alone and the house is always dark with the exception of aquarium lights and tv. The only light I use is the bathroom light or kitchen light.

A house I lived in a few years ago in Charlotte, got broken into when I was home. I was in the back bedroom in the dark (computer screen light), smoking with the stereo blasted, and someone broke my back window and grabbed a digital camera and my wallet off of the kitchen counter lol.

Bingo. Blackpool Illuminations, google that to get the reference.

I keep off all lights that are not being used,it's how I was raised.I often get after my son who has to turn on every light on his way to the kitchen.
