your style of tank

personaly i like bare bottom tanks no decor and packed with monsters tokyo style adn tanks must be at least 3 feet wide

Sand or natural looking gravel, plants (fake or real) , black background and a couple of big rocks.

i think for me it depends on the fish. If its a fish i want to show off like my channa auranti i'd have it in a bare bottom with little decor. If its a snakehead thats pretty common i'd have it in a natural setup
