i think for me it depends on the fish. If its a fish i want to show off like my channa auranti i'd have it in a bare bottom with little decor. If its a snakehead thats pretty common i'd have it in a natural setup

I'm with sqratch... it all depends on type of fish??... but generally, I usually like a blk. back/blk. bttm, natural dark/red substrate, and some driftwood centerpieces. Sometimes will floating plants, as well.

It definetly depends on the fish. However, natural seems better than bare bottom. My favorite tank (and I'll post pics when I get home) is a HUGE (8x4x2) planted tank housing a single AAA grade asian aro with a bunch of denisoni barbs. Amazing!
