At this point I am drastically trying to reduce what I have to take care of. I have 2 large tanks and a puppy tank. A good friend of mine decided he wants to sail around the world for a year or two and wants me to take care of his saltwater tank sometime soon, which I would like to help him out but already having some misgivings. I have a beautiful 180 gallon bowfront sitting in my living room begging to be set up, filtration all ready to go, and all I have ever wanted is a giant moray eel, but I just can't bring myself to have to maintain and spend money on another tank. Not a day goes by that I don't want to set it up and it takes everything in me to convince myself I can't justify it. When I have had my run in this hobby, maybe when kids and a more intensive job comes around, I am waiting for the day that I will only have one ~200 gallon tank to run. That day will feel like pure bliss I bet. Not that I'm complaining about what I have now, sometimes it would be nice to breathe though.
Sailing the world would be enough motivation for me to sell any tank I have. A year is a long time to look after something that you don't own.

that is exactly what is in my mind when I think about it. Maybe 3 6-8 foot tanks covering 3 walls with a nice couch in the center, dark room with only the tank lights on. Always dreamed of having one monster planted tank, one monster fish tank, then another big reef. All the same dimensions. Thought it would be nice.
Or may be three tanks, one on each side long in dimensions ceveing the full length of wall middle one reef fresh one on the sides. Lol

that was always the dream. Amos happened a few years ago, a rainbow trout breeding farm near me was closing as the guy was moving houses and he had 6, 10ft tanks in his basement. A friend of mine knew him and he was going to get the tanks for me but by the time he asked he moved houses and the tanks were destroyed. I always dreamed about what I would do with them!

the tank on the end I would make in wall just so you could put the other tanks right to the corner

Its a good friend though. I'm with you but on the other hand if I needed a hand like that I would hope someone would help me, though I would be asking roughly 20 times more than he is with his 75 gal lol. Plus a good way to learn salt. I really wish I could go with him.

for some reason I knew you were going to throw in the "wish I could go" :D New idea, transfer all his contents into your 180 bow front and make a nice reef display in the living room

the dreams I had over those tanks! he designed it so in the spring the trout would come in there and spawn. I heard it was quite the setup, only saw pictures and heard stories of it. All the tanks were connected to I believe 2 privately own ponds that were outside.

Lol and then when he comes back I keep his live rock and skimmer as a fee and get my moray :o
