Mine will have to hold off untill I relocate to a warmer year round climate.I will eventually be relocating and I intend to build an outdoor pond of a nice size once I do and my cichla will reside there where they can take in the best lighting.:)

my dream tank would hing fully on if i could locate some mirinae, if not it's not a dream tank...

Unless you are unaware, this is obviously a wish list.

Lets see some more.

my dream tank, that i will very likely be able to have once im out of the house.
im speaking rationally here as i dont know if i would have the money to build HUGE tanks like you guys want to.
this is just the FIRST tank i want to build once i get a house of my own.
it would be:

5-8 foot by 5-8 foot with a 2-3 foot height.
working on a huge sump of course.

made of glass or acrylic.

lots of natural sunlight and a few fluorescent lights.

the substrate i would love to do brownish sand covering only 1/4 of the tanks bottom and large pebbles on the rest.
then lots of medium pieces of driftwood around the back half of the tank that branch out.
behind,in between and around the driftwood lots of java ferns (easy to maintain) and java moss.
lots of floating plants

the stock will change,no doubt about that.
plus not all of it will be there for life.
but im hoping:
cichla piquiti x 4
cichla pinima x 2 (can do without)
cichla kelberi x 8
cichla orinocensis x 4 (can do without)
cichla sp. xingu x 2 (can do without)
cichla intermedia x 1 (can do without)
cichla monoculus,wild x 2
wild oscar x 1
endlis or congicus x 10
armatus x 1
parrot cichlid x 4 (can do without)
GATF or VATF x 4 (can do without)
indo-pacific tarpon x 2 (can do without)
hoplias lacerdae x 3
hoplias malabaricus or sp. black x 2

Ehh, well i dunno about dream tank but im hoping to upgrade by years end. 10x4x3 or 10x4x36 if you like. it would house my 10 monos and my 19 metynnis. I would love to keep some intermedia and some kelberi but i live in oz where the cichla varieties are few and far between. We got tems and monos, and some say we got occells but im yet to see an "occell" down here thats not just a hybrid.
