I can remember going to Japan as a kid and not having a choice of what to eat. I HAD to eat what was given to me so different foods don't seem all that odd. THIS seems not only disgusting, but not even a good. To each his own.

i'm not Filipino but i've actually tried it. its actually pretty good with some salt. I'm chinese so nothing really bothers me, we eat intestines, chicken feet, pig blood, etc...

its funny when watching fear factor, people are all grossed out eating intestine while i'm thinking sam woo bbq.:D

dude i'm from the philippines i used to eat that back in school..like 2-4 duck eggs a day, and i didnt hurl the first time i tried it it was back when iwas around 6 years old, i didnt eat the duck fetus at first but i eventually tried it and it tated just like the yolk sack...It's actuallt better when they call it "balut sa puti" or young egg cause you can eat it all and not have to spit out the hard white part and the beak of the duck fetus..:naughty:

When I was stationed in the PI we used to pay the local kids to eat them for us.

for what? eating balut...you would have made me rich and i'd have had high blood pressure cause of the cholesterol...:D

Its not for me, but if you like it cool? I respect culture and stuff, but I really think people eat some nasty stuff because at one time when people started eating a particularly "unusual food item" nothing else to eat was around? Now that we can get chicken breast and juicy angus steak from the market I don't feel the need to experiment with those foods? I guess the experience is worth it if you are curious, and I realize that other people have much more developed "palettes" than others, just tell how it was after !

Man, I'll eat or try just about anything, I'm not squeemish, and that doesn't freak me out because it's a baby duck or anything but it just LOOKS nasty and I don't think I'd like it. I've tried a whole ton of foods and I can usually look at something and tell if I'm not gonna like it.
